ABOUT Claudia Campbell - (CLO)

Claudia Campbell began her career as a self-taught painter. Filled with life and energy, revealing a need for freedom and balance, her paintings are her image. They are a powerful vehicle of emotions and each of them is immortalized in a chromatic world where colors are the language of the artist. Intense, dynamic and deep, or sometimes discreet, delicate and serene... Clo composes with a fascinating and well dosed play of nuances, and each color testifies to her state of mind. She invests herself in a relationship with the canvas, often of very large format, which leaves her all the space necessary to explore, express, breathe and live. For a moment, she is alone. Clo draws her inspiration from nature and light, from their soft, changing and rhythmic dance.

Anxious to capture and transmit this sensitivity, the artist emphasizes forms in her practice. She uses textured backgrounds to give her paintings an emotional amplitude, as well as different mediums such as acrylic paint, mixed pigments, pastels, charcoal, pencils, embroidery, fabrics, and spray paint.

Through her abstract art, Clo frees herself from the demands and constraints imposed, expressing herself freely, without judgment. By creating her works, she allows herself to reorganize her life in her own way, according to her desires. She wants to give meaning to the past and structure an often incoherent and complex present. She takes charge of the whirlwind of daily life and celebrates the rhythm of life, with gentleness and femininity, seeking to satisfy a need for harmony. These reflections and this look at herself give birth to a precise artistic vocabulary, in a context of abstraction or semi-figurative.

Clo builds her compositions, piece by piece, following a methodical and logic-driven set-up. Indeed, from the beginning, each gesture is thought and reflected. The elements - line, form, texture, space, image, color - occupy a deliberate place and are in strong relation with the others. They create a whole that plunges us into the life of the artist, his emotions and his daily life.

This approach also allows for random brushstrokes, instinctive and drawn in a voluntarily irregular manner, in order to leave room for open-mindedness and sometimes, for audacity. The freedom to create the order of things, one canvas at a time, is necessary for Clo to find his balance. This perfect meeting of heart and mind reveals a distinctive style that challenges, captivates and seduces.
