ABOUT - Lisa Roy

Born in Northern Ontario, Lisa Roy is a graduate of Sheridan’s fine art and graphic design programs. After 18 years as an art director and graphic designer in editorial design, branding and advertising, she left her career behind and spent eight years as an expat in Ireland and Dubai where her travels inspired her art. She studied intuitive abstract expressionism and after a career of precision and staying within the lines, she discovered the freedom and energy that comes from painting intuitively rather than focusing solely on observing.

Inspired by life events, her surroundings, and her memories, her work combines a tension of gestural mark making and consciously executed elements with layers of colour. There is a definite chaos as each work evolves until eventually a visual order seems to emerge. Her body of work includes abstracts and abstract landscapes.

Lisa’s work has been exhibited across Canada and is in private collections internationally. She paints in her seaside studio overlooking the beach in beautiful Kingsburg, Nova Scotia.
