Rudolf Bikkers - April 10th Opening Reception

We are so excited for this upcoming exhibition as it has been a few years in the making!! Working hand in hand with Rudolf’s estate, this exhibition will show work from the 60’s all the way up till the mid 2000’s.
Rudolf’s ties to the city are immense, Bikkers taught drawing at H.B. Beal Secondary School in London, Ontario from 1967 to 1969, then served as Chair of the Printmaking Department at Fanshawe College from 1969 to 1976.
In 1975 he founded the master print studio Editions Canada Inc., which custom printed and published works by Canadian and international artists including Greg Curnoe, Jack Chambers, Ed Bartram, Clark McDougall, Walter Redinger, Claude Breeze, Karel Appel, and Paul Jenkins. In 1983 he became Chair of Printmaking at OCA (now OCAD University) in Toronto, where he taught until July 1, 2012.
Over his career Bikkers held 23 solo shows and participated in 20 group exhibitions across Canada, the United States, Europe, South Africa, China, Japan, and Russia. He received several awards and honours, including the A.J. Casson Award, was elected to the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts in 2000, and received the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal in 2002.
*This exhibition will also feature newly acquired work from Greg Curnoe that will be available for purchase alongside special selections from the Beal Art Archives to round out the show.
