Encaustic medium consists of beeswax, damar resin and occasionally castor wax. It is an ancient medium, with examples being found intact dating back to the 1st century AD.

Suzanne translates that expansive feeling into tangible form using wax and precious metals.  Silver and gold fabricated frames hold miniature watercolour paintings to reflect the details of our lives and surroundings that we carry with us.  Layers of painted and fused encaustic medium form an ethereal base in which to tether these elements. Sketches and line work connect the two and tell the story of the myriad experiences that combine to make up our unique, individual worlds. The end results are minimalist pieces that belie their complicated origins, drawing the viewer in and creating a feeling of calm wonder.
